Y acá estoy, esperando el regreso de John a las pantallas chicas... como si fuera a verla inmediatamente, como si fuera posible... pero bueno, me ilusiono una vez más y espero que vuelvan a sonar los acordes de Torchwood!!!

Se viene la cuarta temporada!

Esta vez Torchwood salta el charco, esta vez los buscan desde allende el mar, porque un día se produjo el milagro... porque es el siglo XXI y todo va a cambiar... un día la humanidad dejará de morir, pero no sucederá como a Jack que le pasan las peores calamidades y vuelve a su estado natural, no, la gente se enfermará, sufrirá accidentes, pero no podrá morir. Si, esa es la premisa de Torchwood, Miracle Day.

Se lanzará en EEUU el 8 de Julio a través de la señal Starz (señal que no figura en la grilla de nuestros cables, por cierto... buuuaaaaa!!!) y se emitirá en simultáneo con la BBC, que co-produce la nueva temporada de Torchwood.

Vuelve el equipo con Jack y Gwen como los originales miembros, luego se agregarán un ex-agente de la CIA, Rex Matheson, y la blonda Esther Drummond, también perteneciente a la Agencia; la médica Vera Juárez... Oh, y vuelve Rhys también, claro, el esposo de Gwen. Y están los "malos" como Oswald Danes, el primero en experimentar el milagro...

En fin, las premisas son esas, las fechas están dadas... ahora sólo resta seguir contando los días y esperar la oportunidad de poder verla!!!

Al ver este video recordé la hermosa sensación que me dejó leer "Anything Goes" (Todo Vale), la autobiografía de John. Él lleva a sus lectores de la mano, recorriendo todos los rincones de su vida, desde el preciso instante en que nació hasta el presente... Con poco más de 40 años, John ha vivido una existencia plena, marcada en cada instante por una constante: coraje y decisión... Se ha arriesgado con las mismas chances de ganar que de perder y creo que lo mejor que podemos destacar de todo lo que ha hecho (y sigue haciendo) es que por el sólo hecho de enfrentar los retos, ya es un ganador y un modelo a seguir. A él no le gusta tener ese rol de "modelo", pero, indudablemente, con cada una de sus acciones, quien lo observa, quien comparte con él sus experiencias, no puede menos que inspirarse para ser más y mejor persona.

Del año que ha terminado me han quedado un montón de experiencias nuevas, una de ellas es este lugar, esta parte de mi vida que me ha hecho vivir momentos inolvidables, como las sesiones de madrugada escuchando a John haciendo un programa radial, escribir los post en inglés y español, respetando el idioma de muchos nuevos amigos e intentando compartir con mis hispanoparlantes las dotes de esta persona excelente y magnífico artista llamado John Barrowman. Ahora tengo amigos y conocidos en varios continentes, con idiomas diferentes y con husos horarios dispares, pero con todos compartimos eso de que vemos y/o escuchamos a John e instantáneamente tenemos una sonrisa en los labios... eso, como dice la publicidad de esa famosa tarjeta de crédito "eso, no tiene precio".

Mis deseos "barrowmanianos" para el 2010?
1) Ver al fin el DVD del recital que dio John en Glasgow. Viene vía España junto a una réplica de la Tardis y tres figuras de acción de El Doctor, Martha y el Capitán Jack (Gracias Fer! una vez más podré tener a John, por tí!)
2) Leer la continuación de la autobiografía de John, "I am what I am" (Soy lo que Soy), esperaré la edición de ¿abril?, que incluirá el capítulo sobre la experiencia de actuar en "La Cage aux Folles"
3) Escuchar el nuevo disco! saldrá en febrero y serán temas de musicales... aahhh... ¿estará incluido en el album alguno de las canciones que propuse? Este disco lo grabó de acuerdo a las sugerencias que hicimos sus fans! Ahhhhh, me encantaría escucharlo cantar en español!

Y, en todo momento, seguir fortaleciendo los lazos que surgieron a través de John... Karen, Cassandra, Bertrand, Marcy, Nat, Rita, Julia..., las chicas del equipo oficial, Teresa, Gillian y Carol... y toda la banda de Facebook! somos tantos alredor del mundo... es maravilloso!

I liked the sweetness of John & Scott sharing a moment so pretty with their fans, I wanted to share it here too:

By viewing this video I remembered the beautiful feeling that left me reading "Anything Goes" (Todo Vale), the autobiography of John. He takes readers by the hand through all the corners of his life from the moment he was born until the present ... With just over 40 years, John has lived a full life, every moment marked by a constant courage and determination ... He has risked the same chances of winning than losing and I think the best we can highlight all that has been done (and continues to do) is that the mere fact of meeting the challenges, it's a winner and role model follow. He does not like this role of "model", but, undoubtedly, with each of their shares, who observes, who shared their experiences with him, can only, be inspired to be more and better person.

With the year is over I have been a lot of new experiences, one of which is this place, this part of my life that made me live unforgettable moments, like the morning session of listening to John doing a radio show; writing the post in English and Spanish, while respecting the language of many new friends and trying to share with my hispanoparlantes the excellent qualities of this person and magnificent artist named John Barrowman. Now I have friends in several countries, with different languages and with different time zones, but all share the same feeling when we see and hear John: We all smiled instantly! Una canción, una historia... - A song, a story...

Una canción absolutamente preciosa... y en su voz, aún mejor!

Hace unas semanas atrás esta canción, cantada por John, fue un fenómeno de convocatoria en U.K.
El conductor de radio y presentador de TV, Chris Moyles dijo en su show por BBC Radio 1 que esta canción se merecía estar en el Top 40... luego lo mismo lo dijo en Twitter y la respuesta de la gente fue inmediata, de golpe, en menos de una semana John apareció en el ranking de canciones solicitadas a traves de I-Tunes y llegó al puesto 8!!!
La anécdota sigue, y es que John no estaba en UK cuando pasó todo esto, estaba en una convención de ciencia ficción, COMIC-CON, en San Diego. Cuando llegó se encontró con toda esta locura, llamó a Chris y deliró con el relato de lo sucedido. Quizo agradecer el gesto y entre muchas ideas quedó planteado que: si la canción quedaba al final de la semana en el Top-5, entonces ambos iban a compartir un pijama party, con galletitas de chocolate y leche...
Llegó el finde y la canción, lamentablemente no se pudo sostener (es dificil competir contra monstruos como los Black Eyed Peas, por ejemplo...) en fin, hubo otro llamado, esta vez de Chris a John y entonces Chris le pidió cambiar un poquito el trato, John escuchó la oferta "si la canción quedaba en el Top-15...", John (sin saber cuál era la posición de la canción) lo pensó un ratito... trató de regatear un Top-10, pero finalmente accedió... ahí Chris le contó que el puesto final terminó siendo el 13... Y ese número vuelve a aparecer una vez más en la vida de John... es que siempre está... ¿un ejemplo? sus discos siempre tienen 13 canciones... a él le encanta el número 13.
En fin, fue una semana divertida e intensa, todo esto sucedió desde los días finales de Julio hasta el primer fin de semana de Agosto.
Quiero destacar que escuchar las charlas entre John y Chris es disfrutar de un contrapunto de gracia, inteligencia y ocurrencia... ojalá que las Johnettes y lo Barrowboys podamos participar de ese encuentro en pijamas... seguramente será muy divertido.

John estuvo en BBC-Radio 2, hace unos días, por primera vez llevando adelante un programa él solo. Programó la música, leyó correos, habló de Doctor Who (uno de sus temas favoritos) y se rió muchísimo... Los fans de todo el mundo estuvimos escuchándolo y compartiendo la experiencia juntos... fue un placer... AUNQUE TUVIERAMOS QUE ESTAR DESPIERTOS A HORAS IMPENSADAS, COMO EN MI CASO DESDE LAS 2 A LAS 4 DE LA MADRUGADA. Volveremos a vivirlo el 18 de julio, cuando nuevamente esté haciendo otro programa en la misma radio(6:00 am UK).

Luego tuvo un accidente y estuvo casi un mes parado, se rompió todos los ligamentos del tobillo izquierdo... ese accidente le impidió asistir a la convención Torchsong que se hizo en Chicago... pero se las arregló para llegar, de alguna forma, a quienes lo estaban esperando: hizo una video-conferencia divertida, amena, íntima, alegre... como es John, como sólo John puede hacer.
Lo prometido, un video EXCELENTE de uno de los recitales de la última gira de John, cantando Living La Vida Loca...

a-b-c del Capitán Jack / a-b-c Captain Jack

Todo comienza en la Primer temporada de Doctor Who, en el episodio 9, "El niño vacío", El Doctor y su acompañante, Rose, llegan a Londres en medio de la segunda guerra mundial persiguiendo un artefacto que El Doctor califica como maligno... Allí, en mitad de un bombardeo Alemán, un apuesto militar rescatará a Rose que está metida en un lío... El Capitán Jack Harkness entra a escena.
En los siguientes 4 episodios, Jack será partícipe de las aventuras en que siempre se enreda El Doctor. Los episodios son "El Doctor Baila", "La ciudad explosiva", "Lobo malo" y "La despedida". Este último episodio está ambientado más de 100.000 años en el futuro...
Luego de ello, los seguidores de la serie y quienes quedaron prendados del personaje, no volverán a verlo hasta que comienza el "spin-off" de Doctor Who, TORCHWOOD (palabra construida con las mismas letras de la serie original... hagan el intento, verán que no miento).
En el primer episodio aparecen dos enigmas: el Capitán Jack Harkness no puede morir. Lo vemos cómo revive luego de un balazo en la cabeza y luego se lo confiesa a la nueva integrante de su equipo, Gwen Cooper. Y el segundo enigma es cómo es que aparece en la ciudad de Cardiff (Gales) a comienzos del siglo XXI, si la última vez que supimos de él estaba muy lejos y en el no menos lejano futuro...
Episodio tras episodio se verán las diferentes facetas del Capitán, suposiciones de los miembros de su equipo, luces y sombras de su carácter, su corazón en carne viva...
Al finalizar la primer temporada debemos correr con él hasta la Tercer temporada de Doctor Who, episodio 11: "Utopía" y se quedará con El Doctor en los dos episodios siguientes: "Ruido de Tambores" y "El último señor de los tiempos".
Pero llegados a este punto, se podría agregar algo más a la lista de episodios, que aunque no "imprescindibles", le dará significado a la última frase que le dice el Capitán Jack a El Doctor... así que, recomendación personal, ver todos los episodios de Doctor Who! jaja... bueno, si eso se complica, entonces no perderse: Temp. 1 - Episodio 2 "El fin del Mundo" - Temp. 2 - Episodio 1 "Nueva Tierra" y Temp. 3 - Episodio 3 "Gridlock". Repito: NO ES ESCENCIAL, pero le agrega un "bonus" delicioso...
Justo a tiempo comienza la segunda temporada de Torchwood. Los misterios del Capitán Jack están más resueltos y el personaje tiene un contorno de sabiduría y pasión. La interrelación con los otros personajes es maravillosa y todo se va desarrollando con naturalidad y hasta calidez, a pesar de los retos a los que se enfrentan.
Llegados al final de estos 13 episodios de Torchwood, los caminos de Jack y El Doctor vuelven a cruzarse, esta vez es en la Temporada 4 de Doctor Who, Episodios 12 y 13, "La tierra robada" y "El fin del camino", respectivamente.
Hay una Tercer Temporada de Torchwood, limitada a 5 episodios llamados todos "Los niños de la Tierra"; se emitirán en el próximo mes de junio, en una sola semana.

INGREDIENTES:

Para la base
250 g (9 oz) galletas digestivas, aplastadas
2 cucharadas (30ml) de cacao en polvo
1 cucharadita (5ml) de especias mixtas
75g (2 3/4 onzas) de mantequilla derretida

Para el relleno
100 g (4 oz) de mantequilla
50 g (2 oz) de azúcar extra fina
50 g (2 oz) de azúcar negra
397 g leche condensada
1 cucharada (15ml) negro melaza
75 g (3 oz) de chocolate negro (70% de cacao), derretida

Para la parte superior
4 plátanos pequeños
284 ml crema de leche, ligeramente batido
cacao en polvo, para espolvorear

Preparación

1. La base: Desmenuzar las galletas en un procesador de alimentos hasta que queden como pan rallado fino.

2. Añadir el cacao en polvo, agregar la mezcla de especias y mantequilla derretida. Mezclar todo bien.

3. Presione la mezcla en un molde de 20 cm (8 ") de diámetro (de fondo suelto) y, a continuación, llevar a enfriar bien.

1. Blitz the biscuits in a food processor until you have fine breadcrumbs.

2. Add the cocoa powder, mixed spice and melted butter and blend well.

3. Press the mixture into a 20cm (8”) loose-bottomed cake tin, then chill well.

4. Make the filling: Place the butter and sugars in a non-stick saucepan over a low heat, stirring until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves. Add the condensed milk and bring gently to the boil, stirring continuously. Boil steadily for exactly 1 minute, stirring frequently to ma ke a golden caramel. Add the treacle and melted chocolate and mix thoroughly.

5. Spread the caramel over the biscuit base and chill for about 1½ hours, until firm.

6. To serve, slice the bananas and arrange most of them over the caramel. Spread with whipped cream. Decorate with the remaining bananas and dust liberally with cocoa powder.

Tal como estaba previsto, el sábado pasado, nuestro adorable JB lanzó un show televisivo llamado "Esta noche es la noche". En él la propuesta es hacer sueños realidad, tener la oportunidad de cantar, bailar, actuar, conocer a tu estrella favorita... cosas por el estilo.
En el primer show vimos a pequeños roqueros, los "My Kid Brohther" conociendo a sus estrellas favoritas, los "McFly" y, para sorpresa total de los chicos, los McFly los invitaron a tocar con ellos en los recitales que harán próximamente...
Y esta es sólo una muestra de otros sueños alcanzados... como Rob Willimas que fue sorprendido por su cantante de música clásica favorita, la deslumbrante Katherine Jenkins...
El programa tiene mucha dulzura, mucho encanto, mucha calidez... es emocionante, pero sin golpes bajos. "Tonight is the Night" es un show de entretenimiento, cargado de muchas sorpresas... JB te deja pintada en el corazón la sonrisa de su alma... ni más, ni menos...
